France 2025

Bonjour.

Some more photos for your perusal.

I’ve been to France twice this year, and the photos from these trips are what you will find in this blog post.

In April, I went to Fontainebleau for a climbing holiday with some friends. It took a little while to get comfortable with the outdoor bouldering as it carries a bit more jeopardy than indoor, so it was good to have my camera to provide a different outlet while I was waiting to find some climbs I was happy to try. I quite like the climbing pictures — they’re different from my usual style, but the funky rocks helped to create some interesting compositions. We also went on a little day trip to Paris for a rest day.

It was also a good challenge to get into doing some more of what I will call “life” photography. I’m generally quite proud of my street and portrait work, but I often find just photographic my life as it’s happening quite difficult. Ultimately, almost all of the photos in this post kind of count as “life” photography, and I like them. So that’s good. Though there are possibly a few that would need another go on Lightroom if I were ever to print them out. I’ve made the mistake of using a monitor with quite high contrast and brightness for the last couple of goes at editing, and it’s left the photos looking somewhat flat on any other screen.

I also went to France in July with my family plus Emily for a bit of road trip. Emily and I went to Lyon for a couple nights - lovely city, didn’t really get any great photos there. From there, we met my family in Marseille where we spent another 2 nights, before going to Provence for a few days, and then over to Les Houches. I’m just going to chuck all the photos in a oner below.
